Notes
|
Acestrorhynchus falcirostis, known in the aquarium world as the Freshwater Barracuda, is a predatory Characin from the Amazon basin.
Like other freshwater "Barracudas", these fish should be kept in aquariums with a lot of open swimming space, dim lighting and floating plants if possible. Although they are predatory by nature, they will usually mind their own business with fishes of equal size, and shouldn't be kept with overly aggressive tankmates.
As carnivores, it may not be possible to get your Freshwater Barracuda to eat anything but live foods unless you start the fish on pellets or other meaty store bought foods at a young age.
Breeding and sexing information is not available.
