Notes
|
Ember Tetras are excellent little characins for the small community aquarium. At an inch or less when full grown, these fish can only be kept with the smallest of community species, as even Angelfish may make a meal out of them. Owners of this fish marvel at their beauty and activeness, and it is a wonder why they are not more common in pet shops.
The aquarium need not be large, but as it is recommended to keep these fish in schools of six or more, twenty gallons or more is preferred. A well-planted tank is appreciated, as are over-hanging floating plants.
Ember Tetras are not picky eaters. They will eat most any store-bought fish food, and prefer to get their food as it sinks towards the bottom. Over-aggressive eating species may out-compete these fish for food, so take consideration when selecting tankmates.
