Notes
Emperor Tetras are popular schooling Characins from South America. They are attractive, hardy, and easy to spawn.

Provide an aquarium of at least 15 gallons, preferably more as these fish should be kept in groups of at least six. Dense vegetation is appreciated. The water should be soft and neutral to slightly acidic in pH.

When kept in schools, breeding pairs form quite easily. The males will usually develop a "breeding territory" where they will try to lure females in for breeding. It is recommended to put breeding pairs into their own seperate breeding tanks, and then to again remove the parents back to their usual tanks after spawning has occured, as they have been known to eat the fry. Feed the young a diet of small crushed flake foods.
